Review
The Ministry of Fisheries
is currently undertaking a review of some aspects of the Amateur
Fishing Regulations. MFish have released an Initial Position Paper (IPP) which covers the following:
- Amendment to the scallop fishing season
- Red gurnard, blue cod and trumpeter recreational size limits
- Definition of 'take' when considering bag limits
- Regulation 19A of the regulations
The (IPP) that includes the proposals for these regulations was released
on 11th July 2006.

| option4 and the New Zealand Big Game Fishing Council ask the
Ministry why we are being asked to comment on specific regulations
when there are more fundamental issues that need to be addressed.
