Dear Paul
I am writing to express my sadness at leaving the Fisheries portfolio after four years, and to wish option4 well in the future.
Cabinet reshuffles rarely proceed in a straight line and the addition of the Transport portfolio to my list was accompanied by the realisation that Fisheries would be best managed by my Dunedin colleague, David Benson-Pope. David was deservedly appointed to Cabinet on the resignation of Hon. Lianne Dalziel.
You will, I am sure, enjoy David’s intellect and commitment to the job as you get to know him. He has a fine understanding of sustainable economic development, and he is currently less burdened with other portfolios than I.
Needless to say, I have enjoyed the vagaries and challenges of the portfolio immensely and will continue to retain a keen interest in it.
I wish option4 every success for the future.
Yours sincerely
Hon Pete Hodgson
