Tradeable
water rights and minimum waterway (river) flows

Hi all,
The National Party has requested opinion on their agricultural policy.
Two key areas being canvassed are tradeable water rights and minimum
waterway (river) flows.
As many individuals as possible should submit their views.
Here are some suggested guidelines (but put into your own words
please).
Tradeable Water rights
The biggest flaw is the tradeable aspect - where water rights can
be sold and bought. Inevitably the biggest and richest accumulate/aggregate
rights so the resource ends up in the hands/pockets of a few
big business interests. Water is a public resource, not a private
property right.
Minimum waterway flows
Minimum flows should be established to ensure environmental, ecological,
and recreational values are safeguarded.

PLEASE spend a few minutes. Numbers are important
to politicians. Why not do it now?
P.S. Send this on to your fishing friends. If we all do it, it will
compound numbers incredibly.
