WELLINGTON
Attn: Kristin Philbert
Dear Sir,
Submission to IPP - SNA8, FLA1 and GMU1
At the recent Annual General Meeting of the Muriwai Sports Fishing Club Inc (MSFC) there was significant discussion on stocks and access to the three species above ending in the executive committee of the club being asked to make submission on the IPP proposals.
That submission is attached.
In forwarding that submission I wish to emphasise that club members emphatically reject the concepts of (a) proportional share for recreational fishers and (b) that the recreational sector is responsible for the unsustainable fishing of these three stocks and should bear further restraints in catch to assist rebuild of the fisheries. In each case the fisheries’ decline must be contributed to over fishing (through various means) by commercial and to mismanagement of the respective fisheries through the QMS.
Club members have asked that these two points be clearly conveyed to Minister in advice on which he is to make his decisions.
Yours faithfully
Bernie Ward
For and on behalf of MSFC members and
MSFC delegate to NZBG
