Ministers
Response to Submitters
15
April 2004
Background
option4 Alert
#6 was issued on 8 April 2004 to allow the public the opportunity
to submit on the Ministry of Fisheries proposal to introduce kahawai
into the Quota Management System. Submitters were offered the tools
to enable their submission to be sent to the Ministry of Fisheries
personnel involved in the process and to selected politicians including
the Miniser of Fisheries. The Minister has responded with the following
message to the public.
Minister's message
Dear option4 supporters,
Thank you for sending the Minister of Fisheries Hon David Benson-Pope,
your submissions on the current management proposals for kahawai.
The Minister will not be responding to individual submissions as
they are considered to be part of the statutory consultation process
for determining the catch limits, allowances and other measures
to apply to kahawai when it is introduced into the Quota Management
System on 1 October 2004.
Once the submission period closes on 16 April, your submissions
will be collated and considered by the Ministry of Fisheries as
part of its final advice to the Minister on these management proposals.
A response to submissions will be available when final decisions
on the catch limits,
allowances and other measures are taken.
Office of Hon David Benson-Pope
Minister of Fisheries
