INTRODUCTION OF KAHAWAI INTO THE QUOTA MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
ON 1 OCTOBER 2004
Kahawai has been Gazetted for introduction into the Quota
Management System on 1 October 2004. In accordance with Sections
12, 21 and 75A of the Fisheries Act 1996 a consultation document,
dated 12 January 2004, was sent to stakeholders and those with an
interest in the kahawai fishery on behalf of the Minister of Fisheries
on the Total Allowable Catches, Total Allowable Commercial Catches,
allowances and other management measures proposed for kahawai. This
consultation document requested submissions by 27 February 2004.
Following requests from a number of stakeholders the submission
date for kahawai has been extended to 16 Apri1 2004.
