I would like to acknowledge and thank you for your stance on kahawai, that it should be a recreational only species. It has now become crystal clear why it was so important that you stood up for non-commercial fishers when you did.
I have seen the Ministry of Fisheries plan (IPP) on how they want to steal the fish from the people and give it to the fishing industry. The current management strategy is undermining the rights of the public. You are the only politician so far to have the fortitude to make such a statement.
I trust you will continue to protect the public’s interest in the kahawai fishery.
