Kingfish farming in the Firth of Thames?

By Don Staniford

27 April 2005

After being told to fish off from Peach Cove NIWA now "wants to create a kingfish farm in the Firth of Thames to find out more about growing the high-value species".........

NIWA's report on commercial opportunities in Northland is available via:

https://www.niwa.cri.nz/ncfa/pubs/northland-kingfish.pdf

See also: "NIWA prostitutes itself" and "NIWA say 'fish off":

Presumably, NIWA are now targeting other areas in New Zealand for kingfish farming expansion.   See enclosed links to mass escapes of kingfish in Australia to see why farming kingfish in New Zealand is a recipe for ecological disaster.
