Dear Ms Rea
RECREATIONAL FISHING
MINISTERIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Earlier this year I announced
my intention to establish the Recreational Fishing Ministerial Advisory
Committee and called for nominees for that Committee. I was encouraged
by the strong interest shown in the establishment of this Committee
and the large number and high calibre of the nominees. It gives
me pleasure to advise that the members of the committee are:
- Peter Ellery, of Rotorua
- Sheryl Hart, of Raglan
- Max Hetherington, of Wellington
- Lorraine Hill, of Russell
- Bob Meikle, of Christchurch
- Geoff Rowling, of Upper Moutere
- Kim Walshe, of Auckland
Biographical
information is attached.
Selecting the members was
a difficult decision. Each person has been chosen because of his
or her particular skills and experience, rather than as a representative
of any particular organisations.
I am committed to providing
opportunities for recreational fishers to participate in decisions
about the management of New Zealand's fisheries. I am confident
that this Committee, along with the regional recreational fishing
forums being established by the Ministry of Fisheries, and the input
provided by representative organisations, will ensure that the interests
of recreational fishers are well represented.
Your sincerely
Hon David Benson-Pope
Minister of Fisheries
