option4 Update #101 - 15th April 2008

Dear {FIRST_NAME}

Welcome to the 101st option4 Update.

Celebration time!

Howzat. option4 cracks a century of Updates. option4’s origin and a summary of why the team is still committed to keeping you informed and protecting your right to fish and feed your family is in Update #100.

Marine reserves are coming to a place near you.

What does the Marine Protected Areas strategy mean for your wellbeing? Will MPAs provide abundant fisheries?

Kahawai Legal Challenge

There is nothing more kiwi than lighting the fire in the backyard smoker and watching the previous day’s catch as it is cooking. The opportunity to share fresh, hot smoked fish is an integral part of our Kiwi way of life.

Enthusiastic support for the Kahawai Appeal despite the roller-coaster experience.

Management proposals

Two highly-charged meetings to discuss the Ministry of Fisheries’ blue cod management proposals for Marlborough Sounds attracted over 300 people last week.

Make sure you read and have your say on the new Hectors and Maui dolphin information released by MFish and DoC. Submissions are due by April 20th.

Hokianga Accord

Maori and non-Maori working together to achieve a healthy environment and sustainable fisheries has proven to be a successful recipe.

Email us your details if you want advance notice of the Accord's April 2008 hui.
