Dear [ supporter ]

“Promote a Friend”
– launched 1 June and working smoothly.

This is your opportunity to get stuck in - in a really tangible manner. We have designed and built this Internet “tool” for you to effectively spread the word and help build the support base for option4.

This is where you can do your part to help in the battle for your rights. It is easy to use and great to get your friends and family involved in this issue. All you have to do is input the person's name and email along with your email. A friendly email will be sent to that person inviting them to join in with you and option4 in the rights debate. That person then has the choice to:

  • simply continue to receive the Updates (monthly), or
  • register their support for option4 or
  • unsubscribe and not participate further.

Whichever choice the person makes, you will be kept informed. Quite a few of you have been using this facility already and we are getting a positive response from most people.  Get your friends and family to support you in what you think is important.

Go here and get stuck in -   https://www.option4.co.nz/promote.php3

Numbers count, and so do your actions.

option4 at the Auckland Boat Show – 31st May to 1st June.

It was great to meet so many online supporters at our stand at the  Auckland Boat Show. Often the 4/5/6 people manning the stand were overwhelmed with people wanting to know more. We had people lined up 4 deep to talk with us. Unfortunately there was not enough time to talk with you all, but we did manage to get the message out to thousands more people like yourselves. It is very encouraging to see so much support for this important issue. The Minister of Fisheries will know very soon how much support you all gave us. We have over 3000 letters of support to send to the Minister.

The Lucky Dip was well supported. Your generous financial support for option4 is much appreciated.

The winner of the great Grand Prize of a trip for two to Great Barrier Island courtesy of Great Barrier Airlines, Tipi and Bobs accommodation and Peter Ganley of Vitamin C Charters is Mike Barlow of Greenhithe.

Taking out the beaut Daiwa rod and reel is Tony Williams of Avondale.

Graham Scott of Weymouth Village won the kite fishing rig courtesy of Paul’s Fishing Kites. Well done guys. Enjoy.

Ministerial Advisory Group

The Minister has sent out his invitations to contribute to the Ministerial Advisory Group (MAG) he is establishing. We have three of our nominations accepted, Paul Barnes, Kim Walshe and Scott Macindoe. Between them, they have a tremendous amount of experience in fisheries management issues and a very clear position on where option4 sees the future of recreational fishing rights. Make no mistake, option4 will be looking to secure the rights of all of us to gather seafood, before we engage in debates over the future management of our coastline.
We must have our rights defined first.
