Act Now - Protect the West Coast

Dear [ supporter ]

Just when you thought our message had got through to those proposing marine reserves and marine parks another plan has emerged, this time regarding the west coast. Forest and Bird in conjunction with the West Coast Working Group have released a draft proposal for a Marine Park for the coastline from Port Waikato up to South Kaipara Head.

If successful, this plan could have major impacts on recreational fishing opportunities so it is very important for fishers to have a say in the process.

The deadline for the public to have their say is currently June 30th, we have requested a six-month extension but this has not been approved - yet.

It's Time they Listened!
It is time public opinion and the overwhelming opposition to more bureaucracy on our coastline was taken into account. Those proposing plans need to be aware the fishing public will not sit back and watch the erosion of our rights to fish for food.

option4 have successfully secured the right to have online submissions to this proposal. option4 have an easy to fill in form www.option4.co.nz/wcpsubform.htm which will only take a few minutes to complete.
